In this one-day workshop, students will learn to place and remove sutures and staples, as well as additional advanced wound care techniques such as JP Drain management and hands-on wet-to-dry dressing use. After completion, students will receive a workshop certificate in Advanced Wound Care and Suture.
Skills Taught in this Workshop:
- Suture placement and tying
- Suture removal
- Using a needle driver to control suture needles
- Skin staple placement and removal
- Wet-to-dry practicum
- JP Drain management
Please Note: Students will be working on fresh (not live) pig skin. A synthetic suture pad is available to those students who do not wish to work with animal tissue.
